INTRO:
What if the journey isn’t about becoming someone new — but about returning to the version of yourself that existed before the world told you who to be?
In Episode 4 of The Empress Addi Podcast, I sat down with spiritual mentor and transformational life coach, Dr. Diane Marie, for a conversation that stirred the soul and calmed the noise. Together, we explored the sacred and often messy process of remembering who you are — beneath the roles, beyond the programming, and within the truth that already lives inside you.
Dr. Diane reminded us that spiritual healing isn’t always neat. Sometimes it looks like unraveling. Sometimes it feels like grief. And sometimes it arrives through a quiet practice when no one is watching.
KEY THEMES WE EXPLORED:
🌀 Spiritual Identity & the Art of Remembering
“It’s not about becoming something new, but remembering who you already were.”
Dr. Diane encouraged listeners to reclaim their spiritual selves — not through reinvention, but through return. This return is often sparked by stillness, silence, and an honest reckoning with the stories we’ve inherited but never asked for.
🔥 Discernment in a Noisy World
Society will tell you what success looks like, what beauty means, and what your timeline should be. But how do we tune into our soul’s voice amid all that noise? Dr. Diane offered practical tools — including reflective questioning and intuitive check-ins — to help women discern between ego, programming, and true self-knowing.
🌿 Spiritual Mentorship as Identity Reclamation
Spiritual mentorship, Diane shared, isn’t about giving advice — it’s about helping people excavate their own truth. It’s about alignment with heart, body, mind, and soul. Mentors hold space for sacred unraveling and spiritual rebuilding.
💔 When Healing Isn’t Pretty
Dr. Diane shared her own stories of grief, NICU motherhood, and identity loss after a long-term relationship — moments that stripped her bare, yet ultimately brought her back to herself. Healing, she reminded us, can be spiritual… but it can also be ugly, raw, and real.
🧘🏽♀️ Spiritual Practices for Realignment
Dr. Diane and I offered daily practices for re-centering:
- Grounding: Barefoot on grass or soil to regulate and realign your energy.
- Moon Rituals: Writing and burning what no longer serves you during the full moon. Manifesting intentions during the new moon.
- Journaling: Especially when there’s no safe space to speak.
- Breathwork: Using the “Sweet 16” method (inhale 4, hold 4, exhale 8) to calm the nervous system and re-center your body.
- Sacred Silence: Sitting in intentional stillness to hear divine guidance from your spiritual counsel or ancestors.
A NOTE ON SPIRITUAL BYPASSING:
We named a dangerous tendency in healing circles — the bypass. The “let go and let God” avoidance of deep emotional processing. Dr. Diane reminded us that true healing requires confronting the pain, not spiritualizing it away. Suppression is not the same as transcendence.
CLOSING REFLECTION:
This episode wasn’t just a conversation — it was a mirror. A sacred reminder that you are not broken. You are in process. That intuition you keep ignoring? It’s sacred. That version of you before the heartbreak, the burnout, the role-playing? She still exists.
And if you’re feeling lost right now, maybe you’re not lost at all. Maybe you’re unbecoming everything that was never really you.
