In a world that often tells us to be quiet, shrink, or assimilate—especially as Black women and women of spirit—there is radical power in speaking up.
As global politics intensify, reproductive rights are threatened, and cultural erasure persists, I find myself returning to the same truth that birthed The Empress Addi Podcast: Our voices are sacred.
Whether we are navigating elections that rarely center our realities, or witnessing the weaponization of language in political discourse, the message is clear—voice is power.
And yet, so many are still afraid to use it.
Why? Because we’ve been taught to fear it.
We’ve been taught that we must earn the right to speak. That softness means silence. That rage makes us unfit. That survival depends on shrinking.
But here’s what I know:
Your voice is your inheritance.
It is the drumbeat of your lineage.
It is your ancestors saying, “Not only do you belong—you must speak.”
🔥 What’s Happening Right Now (And Why It Matters)
As we head into a critical U.S. election season and continue to confront the compounded crises of systemic racism, climate instability, and patriarchal control of women’s bodies, many of us are asking:
How do we show up with power and purpose in times like these?
Globally, women’s movements are rising. From Kenya to Colombia, from Mississippi to Haiti, women are leading revolutions in culture, spirituality, and governance. And they are doing it with their voices—ritual, resistance, poetry, podcasting, protest.
We are not just surviving—we are shaping the future.
🌀 The Role of Sacred Speech
In Haitian Vodou and many African spiritual traditions, the word is a spell. A force. A vibration.
What we speak has power to heal or destroy, to liberate or trap.
This is why voice reclamation isn’t just political—it’s spiritual.
Speaking up, telling the truth, naming your boundaries, honoring your calling—these are acts of devotion.
🛑 But Let’s Be Clear—This Work Is Not Easy
To speak when the world punishes truth
To lead when the system rewards silence
To rest when capitalism demands exhaustion
—This is sacred rebellion.
🌺 So What Now?
Whether you’re reclaiming your story, building a business, or raising your children in a world that doesn’t always see them—you are the voice someone else is waiting for.
The Empress Addi Podcast was created to honor that voice. Yours. Mine. Ours.
